We are

John Flora has been making photographic images most of his life, beginning at 10 with a Kodak Brownie camera his parents gave him for a trip to Yellowstone National Park. He continued to shoot pictures for his high school yearbook and throughout his 34-year career as a reporter/photographer for The Indianapolis News and The Indianapolis Star. John took early retirement in 2000 to devote his energies to freelance photography and writing. His photographs have appeared in AAA Midwest Traveler, Motorcycle Tour & Cruiser, RoadBike, Better Homes & Gardens, American Motorcyclist, the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America Owners News, the Photographer's Edge Catalog, the Crawfordsville Journal Review, on MSNBC and in various special projects and web sites. John's photography has won a Nikon Editor's Choice Award and earned him third place in the 2005 Hoosier State Press Association's Best Spot News Photograph competition.

Maria Flora took up photography more than a decade ago when she began her journalism career with the Lebanon Reporter. She continued shooting when her correspondent work landed her a job with The Indianapolis Star and still wields a camera as managing editor of the Crawfordsville Journal Review. Besides The Indianapolis Star and The Indianapolis News, her photographs have appeared in the Nashville Tennesseean, AAA Midwest Traveler, Motorcycle Tour & Cruiser, Quilt World, and the Photographer's Edge Catalog. Maria has also won the Nikon Editor's Choice Award.
John and Maria have photography and journalism in their blood. They met in a newspaper office in 1995 and have been collaborating on photo and writing projects ever since.
They bring a photojournalistic perspective to their wedding and portraiture work based on nearly 50 years' experience in newspapers and magazines. The result is a collection of photographs that are alive with spontaneity. Yes, they will shoot whatever set-up photographs you wish, but their real forté is unobtrusively capturing the moment. With two skilled photographers, your wedding coverage is shot from many different angles. If you wish, Maria will photograph the bride and bridesmaids as they prepare for the wedding, while John does similar work with the groom and groomsmen.
They have the utmost respect for the solemnity of your wedding, so they never use flash during the ceremony. They avoid flash whenever possible because natural light is almost always more flattering.
John and Maria are now booking weddings for 2007 and beyond.
They are also available for portraits — families, children, engagements, high school seniors, even beloved pets. Their portrait photography is done on location, often in the subject's home or in some special place of their choosing where they feel relaxed and comfortable.
